One Typo… Millions of Dollars
Sometimes, mistakes in graphic design or in text/copy in general can be harmless. Other times, it can cost millions.

Why is quality assurance so important?
Well, even one tiny typo can bring on significant financial repercussions. We work with highly regulated industries like Pharma and Finance and we understand the importance of accuracy and quality assurance.
This is why our QC process is arguably the most important and why we have put considerable time and attention to detail when constructing our process. Proofreading is among one of the many angles of our processes. We’ve been known to spot the smaller details that are often overlooked.
Sometimes, mistakes in graphic design or in text/copy in general can be harmless. Other times, it can cost millions. Here are some examples:

Most Expensive Typo in History: $80 Million
In 1962, Mariner 1 was a probe built with the intention of sending off to space to explore Venus. The plan of sending the probe failed when they learned that they missed a single hyphen in the code used to program the speed and trajectory. Instead of sending the probe to explore, it exploded within minutes of takeoff.

Extra Letter means Extra Dollars: $1.4 million
As the comptroller of America's largest city, New York’s Department of Education cost the city $1.4 million when an extra letter in a document that was misinterpreted by the city’s accounting software. The accidental extra letter ended up doubling its transportation spending back in 2006.

One Pricey Mistake: $7.2 million
This is a mistake we all wish we had the luxury of stumbling upon as a passenger of an airline. For the airline, however, it was a financially painful mistake. There were 2,000 travelers in 2006 that were lucky enough to find a ticket from Toronto to Cyprus for only $39.00. Oh, did we mention, it was a first class ticket? Instead, of posting the ticket at its actual price of $3,900.00. Instead of upsetting many customers, the airline honored the ticket price to save their reputation.
